Want to increase testosterone naturally?

A lot of guys have been asking me lately if I supplement with testosterone and if I knew any good testosterone boosting supplements to recommend to them. I often reply with the same answer: no, I don’ t, and I probably never will.

The thing is, many think that supplementing with testosterone will result in immediate and mind blowing muscle gains, because they hear that having high levels of testosterone will do that for you.

While it is true that having high levels of testosterone helps to increase muscle mass, increase bone density, speed up resting metabolism rate, and increase the sex drive, supplementing with testosterone while in your late teens  to late 20’s is definitely something that’s not needed. The reason being is that during those years testosterone levels are at the highest they will ever be in your life and it’s enough to be able to pack on sufficient muscle and gain size.

In this article, I’m going to give you a few things that you can do if you are looking  to boost testosterone naturally in your body.

1) You need to lift heavy in the gym

Have you heard that if you want to build muscle, you need to work out your legs? This is because leg workouts are so physically demanding that they force the body to produce more testosterone to adapt and grow stronger over time to accommodate for the consistent workload. This goes the same for every exercise you do in the gym, you need to lift heavy if you want to build a bigger and thicker body.

2) Lose excess weight

If you’re carrying more than a few extra pounds on your body, decreasing your body fat will benefit your testosterone levels. The reason being is that men who are overweight, tend to have higher levels of estrogen and often lower levels of testosterone because fat cells produce estrogen. The more fat you carry, the more likely you are to develop erectile dysfunction and gynocomastia (man-boobs) from the increased levels of estrogen in the body.

3) Get enough Zinc in your diet

Zinc plays an important role in testosterone production and if you aren’t eating a balanced and healthy diet, chances are you are aren’t getting enough zinc in your diet. The foods highest in zinc are usually shellfish, red meats, and fish. Just because you consume these foods does not mean that you will get adequate zinc into your diet. Over cooking these meats can often deplete natural zinc levels.

4) Eat more saturated fats

Now I know what you’re probably thinking: “if being overweight leads to a decrease in testosterone, why should I eat more saturated fats, aren’t they bad? That is true to a point. But eating more saturated fats will in fact boost your testosterone levels. This is because saturated fats usually contains cholesterol, and cholesterol is converted into testosterone. Guys are right when they say eating red meats make you more of a man.

5) Sleep

Getting enough sleep has so many benefits and boosting testosterone levels is one of them. When you sleep, your body produces testosterone and growth hormones. It’s during the stages of deep sleep (REM) where testosterone is created.

If you’re looking to build muscle as quick as you can, having high levels of testosterone will be highly beneficial. Like I said, if you are still young (under 30’s) there should be no reason to have to supplement with testosterone boosters so you should put away your wallet and invest in other supplements. Your body will naturally be able to build muscle depending on your training habits and nutrition.
