fitnesspalIf you are finding it hard to keep track of your calories, whether it be for weight loss or weight gain I highly recommend you use My Fitness Pal. This is pretty much the best way to track calories without carrying a note pad around with you, and it sure beats tracking it in your head. I have been using it for almost a year now and I can tell you that it is by far the easiest way to track your calories and keep a log of EVERYTHING you eat. Providing that you input the information into the app.

It is very simple to use this app. You will input your current weight, your goal weight, your height and activity level and it will calculate how many calories you need to consume in a day to reach your goal weight. This program is simply amazing and I get all of my clients that I train to download the app onto their phone so I can keep track of their meal plans and calorie numbers that I provide to them. I cannot get over how easy this app is to use. It has a macro nutrient ratio calculator that once set up, will set how many calories you need in a day to reach your goal, how many grams of proteins, carbs and fats you will get in a day in order to guarantee you see results. As you log the food you eat it will add it up into the daily nutrient details which tell you how much nutrients you need and have left in a day.

You can see by my sample daily nutrient details that it shows the goal number that I need to reach daily, how many of each nutrient that I have left and how much I ate in total. By looking at this screenshot you can see that I went over my allowable cholesterol, sodium and protein for the day. But i have 118 grams of carbs and 10 grams of fat left. You can see how easily your foods can be tracked and logged and I find it kind of fun to plan out my meals to structure how many of each nutrient I am allowed in a day.




I’ve noticed that my clients actually enjoy inputting what they eat into the app. Which keeps them motivated to track their calories. It is very easy for them to log what they eat and how many calories they have remaining after every meal. This allows for flexibility and is kind of fun in a way as well. This app also has a built in bar code scanner that you can use to scan the bar code and it will log the food that you eat automatically. If you’re having troubles tracking your daily calories and what you eat, this app is a must try for all and highly recommended.
