Power Of Self Discipline- Brian Tracy
Let’s step away from the whole fitness world for a bit. For all of you who don’t know, I love reading. I read whenever I can and try to read about an hour a day. I’m one of those crazy believers that knowledge is power. One of the things about me is that ; I love reading self help and personal development books. It goes hand in hand with building the best version of yourself. I strongly believe that you should not only build a strong physical body, but you should have a strong mind to go with it as well. And no, I’m not brainwashed by this gobble-dee-gook that people write. Though I do believe it.
A fun fact about me that most people do not know, is that I started my blogging in 2007 and it wasn’t until last year that I finally got successful with it and received the exposure that I was looking for. It took me almost 7 whole years to get where I am today. It took a lot of hard work, consistency and most of all self discipline. The only reason I made it so far along is that I trained myself mentally by reading books (believe it or not), listening to motivational tapes and watching motivational videos. This is what kept me going when I had nothing but belief and a dream. Those things changed my mindset to believing that anything is possible if you keep on pushing forward, and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without self development books, or motivational tapes. I know it sounds corny, and you’re probably thinking to yourself: “this guy is one weirdo.” But trust me, you cannot go through life without growing as a person and these things DO help!
One of the books that I first started reading back then was the Power of Self Discipline by Brian Tracy. If you don’t know who Brian Tracy is, he is a motivational speaker, and a personal life development coach who has helped millions of people (including myself) achieve goals and constantly grow in life. I owe where I am today with this website, my fitness goals, my life goals, and I’m sure a ton more to this man.
***Self discipline is defined as: the ability to control one’s feelings and overcome one’s weaknesses; the ability to pursue what one thinks is right, despite temptations to abandon it. ***
If you don’t have self discipline, your workout plans will fail, your nutrition and eating plan will start to diminish, and this will only lead to failing and having to start back up at square one, when you feel like it again. Self discipline is an important factor in achieving a body that you want, and I highly suggest that you don’t go into a fitness resolution, or start a workout regimen without first learning discipline.
The reason that I’m writing about this book is that it has helped me so much throughout the years with my fitness, nutrition and article writing. I wanted to bring up this book and share it with you guys, because strongly I believe that the path to a healthy and strong body starts with a great mind. I not only want to help you build up yourself physically, but I want you to be the best that you can be and to unlock your true potential in life. Anyone who is struggling with their goals in fitness, needs to read this book. Even if you aren’t struggling, this book will help you with your daily life.
Like I said, this was one of many books that helped me through the 7 years and kept me walking forward when I felt like there might not be a light at the end of the tunnel. Self discipline is something that everyone should learn and try to master, because that is what is going to get you to places that you’ve only dreamed of going before. I highly suggest you give this book a read, either from your library, or add it to your bookshelf.
